TANK COMBAT 120MM GUN CHIEFTAIN MK10
Despite Merlin showing disposal at VDL March 1993 with cast flag Y, vehicle is confirmed to have survived and was used in the production of GoldenEye (1995), the 17th James Bond film directed by Martin Campbell and starring Pierce Brosnan. 06FA15 was one of at least two Chieftains (alongside 06FA77) dressed as Russian T-55s to serve as background vehicles in the military car park scene at the start of the famous St Petersburg tank chase sequence, filmed at Leavesden Studios, Hertfordshire in early 1995. The hero tank driven by Bond was a real Russian T-55 with Chieftain rubber tracks fitted, while the background vehicles were surplus British Chieftains modified with fibreglass panels and Soviet-style markings. Photographed at Manchester August 1997 post-production. Current status unknown. Sources: AJB007 forum, IMCDb (separate Chieftain entry for GoldenEye 1995), tankmuseum.com Chieftain list.
