TANK COMBAT 120MM GUN CHIEFTAIN MK11
The Chieftain Marksman — confirmed running survivor held in a UK museum collection. Appeared running at Operation Market Harborough 2025. Contract KL/A/0217, DIS February 1967. Mk11. Served with 4/7 Dragoon Guards (1986), 15th/19th King's Royal Hussars (two tours 1990-1991) and 3 RTR briefly in February 1991 during Gulf War period. Transferred to GEC-Marconi Radar & Defence Systems in June 1993 (RIV R00015) — the first Chieftain into the Marksman programme, which fitted a twin 35mm Oerlikon anti-aircraft turret to a Chieftain Mk10/11 hull, guided by a Marconi S400 search and tracking radar capable of detecting targets at 12km. The Marksman turret was tested on 03EB10 but the British Army did not adopt the system. The only production operator was Finland, which fitted Marksman turrets to T-55AM chassis as the ItPsV 90. 03EB10 survived as the UK prototype vehicle and is preserved in running condition.
