TANK COMBAT 120MM GUN CHIEFTAIN MK10
Chieftain Mk10, contract KL/A/0208 (Vickers Armstrong built, Elswick, Newcastle), entered service 1 August 1969. Merlin records service with 15/19 H (15TH/19TH KING'S ROYAL HUSSARS) from July 1987, Vehicle Depot Ludgershall February 1992, then disposal at VDL September 1993 (RIV L10742, RCP CWL5555, received February 1995 — unusually late receipt date suggesting commercial batch disposal). Undated movement to 2 ARMY DEL SQN with no RIV recorded is the mechanism by which vehicle left the disposal stream for export. No cast flag set in Merlin. Now at Battlefield Vegas shooting experience, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA — one of five Chieftains at the venue. This vehicle was restored to original appearance before leaving the UK. Note: a separate Chieftain at the same venue was used in the James Bond film GoldenEye (1995), dressed as a Soviet tank for the St. Petersburg tank chase sequence.
