Chieftain AVRE (Armoured Vehicle Royal Engineers), contract FVP/102/68, entered service 1 October 1971. Engineer unit service history including 31 ARMD ENGR SQN and 26 ARMD ENGR SQN, 32 ENGR REGT. Loaned to Vickers Defence Systems February 1993. Deployed to BATUS (British Army Training Unit Suffield, Canada) January 2002, returned to JSCS Ashchurch February 2009. Sold through WITHAM (SPECIALIST VEHICLES) LTD July 2009 (RCP 999) — confirmed export/disposal route to private ownership. Undated Merlin entry for 1 RTR after Witham sale likely a data error. No cast flag set. Now privately owned by Mark Stacey, UK; confirmed running under own power for the first time in over 15 years on 15 March 2026, being prepared for the UK show circuit.
